Where Traditional Advertising Meets Digital Marketing
The Lasting Impact of Locally Owned Media
The Newnan Times-Herald has a rich legacy, beginning as The Newnan Herald, established on Sept. 9, 1865, by attorneys J.S. Bigby and J.C. Wootten. Georgia's first post-Civil War newspaper, it launched with a four-page weekly format at $3 per year. Over time, ownership and names changed but by 1947, after several mergers and transitions, the publication was officially rebranded as The Newnan Times-Herald, a name that endures today.
Unique, Local & Relevant
Today, The Newnan Times-Herald and NTH Media serve as vital resources for Coweta County, blending tradition with innovation to meet the needs of a modern readership. As one of the oldest family-owned newspapers in Georgia, The Newnan Times-Herald remains committed to unbiased journalism, community involvement, and capturing the spirit of Coweta. With deep roots and forward-looking initiatives, The Times-Herald honors its past, supports its present, and looks ahead to future generations, cementing its role as a trusted voice in Coweta.
Adaptive Marketing Solutions
Through periods of war, economic shifts and the digital age, The Newnan Times-Herald has adapted while maintaining a focus on community-centered reporting. The Thomasson family acquired the paper in 1946, and they’ve guided its evolution, from transitioning to offset printing in the 1960s to launching an online presence in 1996. Continually recognized for editorial excellence, The Times-Herald receives multiple awards from the Georgia Press Association annually and continues to invest in technological advancements for enhanced content delivery.
