Seventeen Coweta nonprofits were the recipients of over $20,000 in grants given by the Newnan Rotary Club.

Last Friday, Rotary presented checks to Newnan Coweta Habitat for Humanity, One Roof, CORRAL, Coweta CASA, Backpack Buddies, Elevate Coweta (Communities In Schools), Coweta FORCE, Salvation Army, Backstreet Arts, Meals on Wheels Coweta, I58 Mission, Newnan Cultural Arts Commission, Bike Coweta, Riverlife, Coweta STEM Institute, Coweta Samaritan Clinic, and the Newnan Theatre Company.

Each year, the Newnan Rotary Club gives out $10,000 in grants to community nonprofits. This year, thanks to an additional $10k donation from Random Productions and Blackhall Studios, the club was able to distribute $20,000.

Bill Carraro, executive producer of HBO’s “Lovecraft Country,” said the donation was made on behalf of the filming company to help benefit the community.

“We know that the Rotary Club benefits the town of Newnan in many ways and …(the donation) would be our pleasure to make,” Carraro said.

Newnan Rotary President Carol Moore thanked Carraro for the donations which helped inject local nonprofits with funds necessary to remain vital in the community.

“Thanks to their donation, we were able to double the number of our grants, allowing us to help 17 different nonprofits who are attempting to make a difference in Coweta,” Moore said. “We expect over 4,360 Coweta Citizens will be served by these grants over the next 12 months.”
