Heather Creech, Director of Salvation Army Center in Newnan and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Coweta County, recently gave a detailed update about the center’s work in meeting the needs of local citizens.

The Salvation Army’s Family Donation Store on Jefferson Street, where 83 cents of every dollar earned is returned in support of its programs and services, is a key operation.

In addition, the Service Center provides job/interview training, has deployed trained Disaster Relief Services volunteers, provided special Christmas gifts to 273 children last year through the “Angel Tree” and works closely with other local nonprofit groups to distribute food and provide financial assistance to citizens in need.

Many Coweta Kiwanians serve as bell ringers during the Salvation Army’s annual Red Kettle Drive, which is its largest fund-raising activity.

The Service Center has been located in Newnan for over 23 years. Creech began her Salvation Army service as a volunteer in 2013 and become the director in 2016.
