East Coweta 17, Westlake 1:
East Coweta did it again Tuesday in the Region 2-7A opener against visiting Westlake, winning the game in a blowout, 17-1.
Ashleigh Griffin and Kaliyah Matthews each homered as part of the region victory.
Matthews came off the bench to rip her homer and it ended the day for Westlake by the mercy rule.
East Coweta has seven hits in the game and took advantage of 11 Westlake walks and four errors by the Lady Lions.
Olivia Cook added a double and Eliza Kune finished with a triple.
Both Griffin and Kune finished the game with four RBIs.
Aniston Wright pitched two innings and struck out five, while Hannah Stubbs pitched an inning and struck out one.
Newnan 17, Wheeler 0:
Ansley Houston pitched a perfect game and also inflicted plenty of damage at the plate as the Lady Cougars opened Region 2-7A play with a runaway victory.
Houston and her teammates scored 11 times in the first and six times in the second to put the game away after three innings by the mercy rule.
Houston threw just 33 pitches to record the perfect game shutout. She also added to her performance by setting down eight with strikeouts.
Houston was a single away from hitting for the cycle after ripping a homer, triple and double. She also finished with four RBIs.
K.K. Madrey and Caroline Strickland also got into the home run act for the Lady Cougars.
Madrey ripped as grand slam to highlight her four-RBI day.
Reagan London also had a two-hit day including reaching on a double.
Northgate 3, McIntosh 2:
In one of its toughest games this season, the Lady Vikings managed to stay unbeaten with a one-run victory on the road against McIntosh.
Northgate broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth when Sarah Turi drove in the final run of the game to lift Northgate to an 8-0 record.
McIntosh led 1-0 after the bottom of the first, but Northgate added single runs in the second and third.
Northgate scored on an unearned run for one of its runs and Natalie Heath joined Turi with the Lady Vikings other RBI.
Olivia Cato got the win for the Lady Vikings, pitching three innings in relief, striking out six and finishing without giving up a hit.
Alissa Bolinger pitched two innings and had a strikeout.
