East Coweta and Northgate girls lacrosse

The East Coweta and Northgate girls lacrosse teams each rolled to victories on Wednesday beating schools from Cobb County.

East Coweta won 15-4 victory over Sprayberry, while Northgate knocked off Pebblebrook 14-4.

The Lady Indians were led by Anna Robbins and Kaitylnn Alford. The scoring duo each finished the game with four goals apiece.

East Coweta set the tone early in the contest keeping the action down at the Lady Yellow Jackets’ end of the field.

Robbins and Alford shared the scoring wealth to start the contest for the Lady Indians adding the first five goals of the game.

Robbins finished off her hat trick on a goal that gave the Lady Indians a 5-1 lead.

Alford also scored twice during the early minutes of the game.

The Lady Indians also got first-half goals from Leah Chambers and Alford competed her hat track to push the lead to 7-1.

With 10:20 left in the first half, the Lady  Indians started a flurry of points getting goals to go up 8-1 when Sarah McCullough scored for the Indians.

The Lady Yellow Jackets answered with just their second of the game, but again East Coweta countered.

Chambers and Alford scored for a 10-2 lead.

The Lady Jackets added what turned out to be the final score of the first half as the clock hit all zeros.

The Lady Indians outscored the Lady Yellow Jackets in the second half 5-1.

East Coweta got goals from two goals from Ansley Barber.

Chambers also added another goal.

Robbins also capped off her scoring. Kristen Odum also put the ball in the back of the net.

With the victory, East Coweta improved to 8-4-1.

It was the Lady Indians sixth victory in the last seven games.

East Coweta fell to Northgate earlier this week in the first day of the Coweta Cup.

Northgate rolls to win: If Northgate head coach Shelia Walker was worried that her team would look head to Friday night contest against Newnan in the Coweta Cup, the Lady Vikings quickly put her mind at ease with the runaway 14-4 victory against visiting Pebblebrook.

With the win, Northgate clinched its third straight trip to the playoffs, improving to 12-4 overall and 4-2 in the region.

Now, the Lady Vikings can turn their attention to winning a sixth straight Coweta Cup when they take on Newnan Friday night.

The Lady Vikings took an 8-1 lead and never looked back.

Kennedy Haplin led the way with four goals.

Callie DuBose finished with a hattrick.

Mia Griswold and Grace Eskew also had two goals each.

The Lady Vikings spread the scoring wealth with Callie Frazier, Sarah Cook and Taylor Briggs.

Lexi Whiddon led the team with two assists.

DuBose, Haplin, Kaitlyn Maita and Sarah also had one.

Three different goalies played for the Lady Vikings with Tia Stephens making five saves.

Hannah Mercer and Emily DeVereese had two saves each.

The Lady Vikings have a chance to clinch their sixth straight Coweta Cup at home tonight against Newnan at 5:30 p.m.
