The annual SKYWARN Recognition Day (SRD)
will occur December 6, 2008, from 0000 to 2400 UTC. (Friday December 5th at 7:00 PM EST through Saturday December 6th at 7:00 PM EST)  SRD is The National Weather Service way of saying "thanks" to amateur radio operators who provide weather information during hazardous weather. SRD is co-sponsored by the NWS and the American
Radio Relay League.

As usual we will be participating. In the past, we've scheduled two hour blocks of time for operators except the 2300 - 0700 shift if someone wants to. The caveats are: Operator 1 must have a General class license or better.  And, all operators must be approved by the NWS since the building is a secure Government facility. Our PTC operators will get first choice on time and day.So put in the time you want before it is taken.  In a couple of days I'll send this out to other groups (FCARC, FayCowARES and Concord ARS. In the past, we've scheduled two hour blocks of time for operators . It is a 24 hour event.  I have taken the 11:00 pm TO 7:00 am shift in the past, but I am unable to do all night this year. Something came up. So we will go as late as we can and start again Saturday morning.
