You DO NOT need to be an ARES member to participate. This event can get pretty intense and interesting and is over by 11am so is not long and drawn out. Contact Joe or me if you are interested. Thanks. Anyway, the 'fest was held at Byron Middle School, which is the home of the Byron Middle School Amateur Radio Club, KG4BMS, http://bms.peachschools.org/radioclub/index.htm -- BMSARC is a sponsor of the hamfest. It got me wondering whether BGMRC couldn't work with one or more Coweta County schools to set up some kind of school-based auxiliary to help bring young people into the hobby. --AK4MC From steve at newnan.com Wed May 21 09:24:54 2008 From: steve at newnan.com (Steve Hill) Date: Wed May 21 09:36:26 2008 Subject: [Bgmrc-list] Mailing list hiccup Message-ID: <7796D330-30E0-41CD-9995-37D9B169B849@newnan.com> Please excuse the late mailing list item(s). Field Day is June 28 and 29th with setup on Friday June 27th. We plan to put in a good showing for field day. We have some conflicts Friday for setup and cannot start until 4 or 5 pm. We are also limited in space until Saturday after 2pm. This will help us deal with real life emergency conditions. I will send out a date that we can get together to plan Field Day. Plan on attending Field Day and having a good time. We have invited the newly licensed scouts to join us. As usual we will have a good time and lots to eat. Sorry for the BGMRC meeting cancellation on such short notice. Eddie K4UN
