From chrismcg at charter.net Fri Mar 2 10:10:01 2007 From: chrismcg at charter.net (Chris McGehee) Date: Fri Mar 2 10:10:07 2007 Subject: [Bgmrc-list] severe weather; CPR training Message-ID: <784389733.1172848201947.JavaMail.root@fepweb08> Thanks to everyone who monitored the repeater and the weather on Thursday. We were lucky not to have any severe weather in Coweta -- I saw a statement for us around 930pm about storms with 35mph winds, but that was it. I monitored the repeater from the time I left work at 330pm until the cold front went through around 1030pm, and I was holding off on calling a net until there were any potentially severe storms headed our way; nobody likes a net where we're all sitting around saying, "Well, it's raining here..." ;) On another topic, Phil Sims KG4WSL has offered to provide us CPR and AED training for about $20 apiece (less than the cost of materials). If you're interested, please let me know. Time/date TBD. 73, Chris McGehee KL0UD EC, Coweta ARES/RACES From chrismcg at charter.net Sun Mar 11 14:48:02 2007 From: chrismcg at charter.net (Chris McGehee) Date: Sun Mar 11 14:48:07 2007 Subject: [Bgmrc-list] some improvement on the Red Cross issue Message-ID: <1921103972.1173638883009.JavaMail.root@fepweb02> In case you haven't seen it already, here's the ARRL's new position statement regarding the Red Cross background checks: http://www.arrl.org/announce/ARRL-ARC-bg-check.html Looks like the Red Cross has backed down somewhat. Now it's just criminal background checks, and they'll accept other organizations' background checks -- presumably this would include ours from Coweta County. There are still potential pitfalls though: "Although the Red Cross promises that it will not conduct a mode of living check or a credit check of volunteers, its contractor continues to require permission to conduct such investigations. ARRL has inquired of the Red Cross as to the reason for this, but to date has not received a satisfactory explanation." Stay tuned... Hope to hear you on the net tonight. 73, Chris KL0UD From mcgehee at mcgehee.cc Sun Mar 18 23:34:40 2007 From: mcgehee at mcgehee.cc (McGehee) Date: Sun Mar 18 23:34:45 2007 Subject: [Bgmrc-list] Sunday night ARES/RACES net Message-ID: <45FE04D0.3040501@mcgehee.cc> On behalf of Coweta ARES/RACES Emergency Coordinator Chris McGehee, KL0UD The following checkins were recognized on the air during tonight's net: KL0UD Chris, serving as net control N4HIC John N4TEZ Ann, by relay KB4BBC Ray W8PWP Tony KC4KRY Tom KI4MKP Frank KL0TY Kevin K4WPM Bill N9VRO Gene W4XO Lex * There were no announcements.
